BREAKING NEWS: Racist Flyer Circulating in Philadelphia

A racist flyer circulated a Philadelphia school and neighborhood on the same day as the videotaped beating of three unarmed black men by a pack of Philadelphia police officers.

NewsOne.com was tipped off via email:

My school is in the neighborhood where that police officer [Sgt. Liczbinski] was shot. These flyers were hung in the neighborhood around my school and on school property this morning. ... A few years ago, residents in the neighborhood used to slash tires of the black teachers. Most of the black teachers here are insulted and are scared as to what might happen to us.

According to the group's Web site, hundreds of these two-page flyers were distributed by the Keystone State Skinheads in the North East section of Philadelphia, in reaction to the murder last Saturday of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinksi, 39. NewsOne reproduces portions of a letter from the site here:

We have never met Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski but nonetheless, he is a member of our community and it is our duty to bring attention to his murder and speak out against the true nature behind the issues that have lead to his murder, the very same issues that our neighborhoods are currently facing. ... Unfortunately it takes tragic events such as these to open the public's eyes and as difficult as it is, we are currently working on a number of ways to encourage and assist the members of our communities in taking action against these increasingly visible effects of multiculturalism.

Sgt. Liczbinski was killed while trying to prevent a bank robbery in Port Richmond, an historically Polish community. According to the Wall Street Journal, Liczbinksi, is the third officer slain while on duty in two years.

Today, seven more cops were pulled from street duty in connection with the beating videotaped by a local FOX News station. As many as 15 officers, reports the Associated Press, took part in or were present for the gang-style assault of Dwayne Dyches, 24, Brian Hall, 23, and Pete Hopkins, 19. They are being held as suspects in a shooting that left three people wounded.
